Field Technician Console¶
The Field Technician Console brings the hardware needed during installation, commissioning, and support into one site-scoped workspace. It can show AllBoxes, physical-access controllers and readers, LPR devices, health information, and a short recent-activity feed.
You need the explicit Field Technician role to open this console. Your other access-control and administrator roles determine whether you can only operate hardware or can also change and push configuration.
Start with the correct site¶
- Choose Site in the toolbar.
- Confirm the site name before opening any action menu.
- Select Refresh to reload the hardware, health summaries, and recent activity.
The site list follows your assignments. Platform administrators can see all sites; client-level administrators see sites for their assigned clients; other technicians see their assigned sites. If no site is available, ask an administrator to review your assignment.
Warning
The selected site scopes both read-only information and live hardware commands. Always verify it before changing configuration, restarting a controller, or pulsing an access point.
Understand your operating mode¶
The badge beside Refresh identifies the actions available to you:
- Operate only — monitor hardware and, where enabled, send supported live commands.
- Config enabled — operate hardware and open configuration or push-queue actions.
Configuration requires the Field Technician role together with Access Control Admin, Administrator, or Super Administrator authority. AllBox settings are more restricted: they require configuration authority and Global Client Admin, Administrator, or Super Administrator access.
Use the console areas¶
Tabs appear only when the selected site has the corresponding hardware or module:
- AllBoxes — review AllBox identity, associations, health, reader commands, and settings.
- Controllers and configuration — inspect controllers, edit connection settings, manage Azure hardware, run utilities, and review the push queue.
- Readers and live control — review reader mappings, change supported settings, and send access commands.
- LPR devices and health — inspect camera or integrated-device identity and health.
- Recent activity — validate recent access-control and LPR traffic for the selected site.
The metric cards summarize the visible site inventory and known online targets. On a small screen, expand Metrics to view them.
Leave the console¶
Select Portal to return to the normal TEKControl portal. That button is hidden for users whose only landing role is Field Technician. Select Logout when the work session is complete, especially on a shared service device.
For offline devices, missing tabs, failed commands, or configuration problems, see Field technician troubleshooting.
