Admit, depart, or deny a visitor

Visitor state changes are available from the visitor action menu and, when editing a record, from the Visitor form.

Admit a visitor

  1. Confirm the selected site and working post.
  2. Find the scheduled visitor or create a new visitor.
  3. Verify identity, destination, host, visitor type, status, and expiration.
  4. Complete any required signature, inspection, safety, or custom fields.
  5. Select Admit or Admit and Print.

The admission time and admitting post are recorded. Configured host notifications and access-control actions may also run.

Depart a visitor

  1. Find the currently admitted visitor.
  2. Open the action menu and select Depart, or open the visitor and select Depart.
  3. Confirm the departure was recorded against the correct post.

The grid shows a visitor as currently admitted when the latest admission is later than the recorded departure.

Deny or undeny a visitor

Use Deny Visitor when the person must not be admitted. The available status and follow-up behavior depend on site configuration. Authorized users can use Undeny Visitor when the denial was entered in error or has been cleared according to policy.

Warning

Denial and access decisions may have security consequences. Follow the site's verification and escalation procedure and record appropriate notes.

Scan a pass

Select Scan Pass so the page is ready for the scanner, then scan the credential. TEKControl uses the pass state and configuration to determine the valid operational action. If the scan is not accepted, search for the visitor and review the pass under Passes and ePasses.
