Add or edit an incident¶
Select Add New from Incident management, or open an existing incident and select Edit. The form separates the incident into tabs so the core facts, involved records, response details, and evidence remain together.
Record the incident¶
On Information, complete the required fields:
- Short description
- Primary location
- Type
- Status
- Level
- Incident occurred date and time
Add the case number, long description, secondary or continued location, reporting entity, category, activity, camera name, comments, reported date, reported-by person, and supervisor review status when applicable.
Choose Assigned To when a staff member is responsible for follow-up. The assignee may be asked to confirm the assignment from the Incidents page.
Use accurate dates and classifications¶
Dates and times display in the site's time zone. Correct invalid incident, reported, police reported, arrival, or departure dates before saving.
Type, status, and level are configured for the site and can affect notification behavior. A critical level can also create a portal alert. Confirm the classification before saving, especially when updating an existing incident.
Complete and save the record¶
Use the remaining tabs as needed:
- Related people, parties, and vehicles
- Emergency, property, and notification details
- Images, videos, and documents
Select Save after reviewing every applicable tab. New records capture the creator and creation time; every save records the modifying user and time and adds activity to the incident history.
Warning
Incident records can contain sensitive personal, safety, and investigative information. Enter only relevant facts and follow your organization's access, retention, and disclosure policies.
