Punches and history

Punches are detailed intervals associated with a broader attendance record. Record history is the audit trail of changes to that attendance and its punches.

Review punches

Choose Punches from an attendance row. The dialog shows:

  • configured punch type;
  • start and end time;
  • creator;
  • last modifier and modification time.

Punches are initially listed newest first and display in the attendance site's time zone. Double-click a punch or choose Edit only when your role permits changes to that employee's record.

Create or edit a punch

Choose Create Punch from the attendance row when the action is available. Select the required site-configured punch type and enter its start time. Enter an end time for a completed interval; leave it open only when the organization's punch process permits an active interval.

For a new punch, the start defaults to the current site-local time. Existing punch times are converted to local time for editing and back to the stored time standard when saved.

Creating or changing a punch adds an entry to the attendance record's audit history. Save permission and edit availability depend on your relationship to the employee and role level.

Important

Keep punch intervals consistent with the parent clock-in and clock-out period. Correcting punches does not remove the need to verify the attendance record's overall times and calculated hours.

Review record history

Choose Record History from the attendance row. The history lists:

  • action performed;
  • action date in the site's time zone;
  • user who performed the action.

Entries can include record creation or updates and punch creation or changes. The newest action appears first by default.

Use history with the append-only notes to understand why a correction was made. Time Attendance does not provide a delete action in these dialogs; follow your organization's administrative process for invalid records that require removal.
