Save, print, and send a citation

The buttons available at the bottom of the citation editor depend on the selected type, recipient data, document template, site configuration, and your permissions.

Save

Select Save to store the citation without intentionally opening or emailing the citation document. Validation still applies, and configured payment behavior may begin when revenue is included.

Save and Open Citation

This option appears when the selected citation type has a configured document template. It saves the citation, generates its PDF, and opens the document in a new browser tab.

A saved citation with a configured template also offers Citation Detail from the row's three-dot menu.

Save and Send Citation

This option appears when the citation type has a valid configured recipient. Depending on the type, recipients may include:

  • the associated host;
  • the associated visitor, or the visitor's host when the visitor has no email;
  • a specific email address configured for the citation type.

Review the confirmation dialog carefully. It lists the recipient source, name, and email address before sending. Select Send only after verifying all recipients.

The message uses the site's citation notification template and can include the generated citation PDF. A successful send is recorded in citation history and reflected by the Email Sent column and filter.

Warning

Saving and sending is an external communication. If a recipient or email address is wrong, cancel the confirmation and correct the associated host, visitor, or citation configuration first.
