Create, copy, or import sites

Only an Administrator-level user can start New Site from General Administration. Choose the destination client first.

Create a clean site

On Site Setup:

  1. Choose Residential or Commercial.
  2. Enter the required site name, location values, and required time zone.
  3. Choose Start clean.
  4. Select at least one module.
  5. Select Save.

The new site is active by default and starts with voicemail PIN required. TEKControl creates baseline site defaults, assigns the current user, creates a default site user, and creates a default host when the selected modules require it. Residential sites also receive the residential visitor module automatically.

After creation, the editor closes and reopens the saved site so you can complete its remaining settings.

Copy from an existing site

Choose Copy from existing site, then select a source from the current client. The new site uses the source site's enabled modules and copies:

  • notification templates;
  • posts;
  • visitor pass types, visitor types, statuses, and destinations;
  • visitor sections, custom fields, and columns;
  • logistics sections, custom fields, and columns;
  • video cameras; and
  • AllBoxes, remapped to copied posts, visitor fields, and cameras where possible.

The copy does not clone live transactions, hosts, visitors, credentials, users, device health, or access-control controller hardware. Review every copied post, camera, AllBox, template, field, and module before production use.

Warning

Copying configuration is a starting point, not a validated deployment. Source-specific names, addresses, routing, cameras, notification text, and operational assumptions may be unsafe at the new site.

Import multiple sites

For eligible administrators, open the Import tab and select Import Sites.

  1. Download SiteImportTemplate.csv and keep its header row.
  2. Choose the destination client and optional account and branch defaults.
  3. Choose the site time zone; it defaults to America/New_York.
  4. Select the default modules and optional report names.
  5. Upload the CSV and select Submit.

The importer skips the first row, ignores rows made only of commas, and rejects rows without a site name. Start dates use M/d/yyyy H:m in the selected site time zone. State values should use abbreviations. The imported columns include site name, start date, address, city, state, ZIP, residential flag, visitor-ePass flag, and account number; use the downloaded template rather than constructing column positions manually.

The import runs in the background, closes the dialog, and emails SiteImportLog.txt to the signed-in user's profile email. A row error can coexist with successfully created rows, so review the entire log and the resulting site list. The process is not an all-or-nothing transaction and does not automatically undo successful rows.

Note

Update your profile email before submitting if the displayed import-log destination is wrong.
