Migrate a site to another client¶
Migrate Site is an Administrator-only operation in the existing-site editor. It changes ownership and user associations; it is not a display-only reassignment.
What migration changes¶
When confirmed, TEKControl:
- deletes non-host users assigned only to the migrating site;
- removes the migrating site's site and post assignments from non-host users who have other sites;
- removes client assignments that those users no longer need;
- removes existing client assignments from host-linked users at the site and assigns those users to the destination client;
- assigns the site to the destination client;
- clears the site's branch and client-account selections; and
- records entity and association audit entries.
The operation does not ask you to select a replacement branch or account. Set those values after migration.
Danger
Migration can delete user accounts and remove site, post, and client access. There is no undo action in this dialog. Export or record affected users and assignments, coordinate with both clients, and schedule a controlled maintenance window.
Run the migration¶
- Record the site's current client, account, branch, users, posts, and host-linked accounts.
- Select Migrate Site.
- Type the site name exactly as displayed, including case and spacing.
- Choose a different destination client.
- Select Submit, review the confirmation, and confirm only when authorized.
- After success, close or refresh General Administration and select the destination client.
Verify after migration¶
Confirm the destination client, set the correct account and branch, and review:
- non-host and host user access;
- site and post assignments;
- client assignments;
- module availability;
- notifications and sender identity;
- reports, integrations, credentials, and hardware; and
- site audit history.
If the migration reports an error, stop before retrying. Because the procedure performs multiple updates, determine which steps completed by reviewing current records and audit history.
