Add or edit a user

Select the plus button to create a user, or open an existing user from the grid. The form contains General, Roles, Sites & Posts, and, when permitted, Modules tabs.

Choose invitation or manual credentials

For a new user, Send invite email is selected by default.

With an invite:

  • email is required;
  • username is optional because the recipient can choose it;
  • password fields are disabled; and
  • TEKControl emails a link that expires after 24 hours.

The account and its assignments are saved before TEKControl queues the invitation. If delivery fails, the user may already exist. Check the grid and the saved email before trying another workflow; do not create a duplicate account. See Accept a TEKControl account invite for the recipient experience.

To create credentials directly, clear Send invite email, then enter a unique username and matching password values. The password must meet the combined policy for the selected clients and sites. A directly created account may be required to change its initial password at first login.

For an existing user, the username is locked. Leave both password fields blank to retain the current password, or fill both to set a new policy-compliant password.

Enter profile and contact details

First name and last name are required. Other fields can include title, email, primary and secondary phone, extension, employee number, call-in PIN, and Site Contact.

Use accurate contact information because email supports invitations, password recovery, and administrative communication. Treat PINs, employee identifiers, phone numbers, and email addresses as protected account data.

Assign access before saving

Every user requires at least one site and at least one role. Posts are optional. The visible roles, clients, sites, posts, and modules are restricted to values the current administrator is authorized to manage.

Review Roles, assignments, and modules, then select Save. TEKControl records profile and assignment changes in the audit history.

Warning

A general error after saving can occur after some account or assignment work has completed. Reopen or refresh the user grid before retrying so you do not create duplicate accounts or send conflicting credentials.
