Reset your password¶
Use password recovery for a local TEKControl username-and-password account. If your account uses single sign-on, use the identity provider's recovery process instead.
Request a reset link¶
- On the TEKControl login page, select Forgot Password.
- Enter the account's username, which may be an email address.
- Select Submit.
TEKControl displays the same confirmation whether or not the username was found. This protects account privacy. An email is sent only when the username matches an account that has an email address.
Check the inbox and spam or junk folder associated with the account. Delivery time depends on the site's mail service. Do not submit repeated requests immediately; wait a few minutes and verify the username first.
Open the recovery email¶
The reset link is valid for 24 hours from the time it was generated. Open the complete link from the message. If clicking does not work, copy the entire link into the browser without changing the characters after pwdreset=.
Warning
A reset link grants access to change the account password. Do not forward it, paste it into public support channels, or open it on an untrusted device. If you did not request the message, do not use the link.
Set the new password¶
On Password Reset:
- Confirm the username tied to the reset link.
- Enter a new password.
- Enter it again in the confirmation field.
- Select Submit.
The confirmed username must match the username encoded in the reset link. The two password values must match and satisfy the account's policy, which can require minimum length, letter case, numbers, special characters, no spaces, or avoidance of restricted words.
After Password updated successfully appears, TEKControl returns to login. Sign in with the confirmed username and new password.
If no email arrives¶
Confirm that you entered the username rather than only a display name. Check spam filtering and allow time for mail delivery. Because the request screen does not reveal whether an account exists or has an email address, site management may need to verify the username and recovery email.
See Sign-in troubleshooting for expired or invalid links, username mismatches, policy errors, and SSO accounts.
