Site post administration¶
A post is a named operational location or duty area within a site. Posts help TEKControl route work and organize records for workflows such as visitor processing, packages, Daily Activity Reports (DARs), Smart Tours, time attendance, physical access control, and reporting.
Open General Administration, select the site, and then select Posts or Site Post Settings. Limited administrators do not have access to this editor.
Warning
Posts are shared configuration. Renaming, changing, or deleting a post can affect current staff workflows, device behavior, reporting, and records that refer to it. Confirm the selected site and post before saving.
Create a post¶
- Leave Post on Add New Post.
- Enter a unique, recognizable Name.
- Complete the optional identifiers and coordinates.
- Review each operational option that is visible for the site.
- Select Save.
The post list is refreshed after a successful save. Administrators see the post ID in brackets after existing post names; other permitted roles see the name only.
Edit a post¶
Select an existing record from Post, make the change, and select Save. Selecting a different post replaces the values in the form, so save the current post before switching if you want to keep your changes.
Post details¶

The coordinate picker starts with the post coordinates when available and otherwise uses the site coordinates or site address. Confirm the marker, apply it, and then save the post. Typed coordinates must contain a comma and every comma-separated value must be numeric; invalid values prevent saving.
Tip
Use a consistent latitude, longitude format, for example 33.7490, -84.3880. The form validates numeric comma-separated values but does not confirm that the point is actually at the property.
Operational options¶

The editor does not automatically clear a default flag from other posts. Keep only the intended post marked as Default Post, and only the intended residential post marked as Default Residential Post. If multiple records are marked, different workflows can choose the first matching record and the result may not be predictable to users.
Configure a web relay¶
The Web Relay value is advanced hardware configuration. Coordinate changes with the field technician or access-control owner and test the physical output safely.
Enter semicolon-separated tokens. Named options can be in any order, but the enabled flag must be the final token.

Legacy strings remain valid. For example, 10.1.10.201;1;1 means relay address, one-second pulse, and enabled. When named timing options are omitted, the LPR Gateway uses its configured defaults; the standard defaults are a 3-second pulse, 10-second gate-active window, and 30-second same-plate suppression window.
Cameras assigned to the post use the same relay string. Queue and duplicate-plate state are tracked per physical relay output, so separate outputs on the same relay box remain independent. The relay string alone does not authorize gate opening: LPR gate opening must also be enabled for the relevant host types.
Danger
An incorrect address or output can operate the wrong gate or relay. Test with on-site personnel, verify the physical result, and review access-control transactions after changing this value.
Delete a post¶
- Select the existing post.
- Select Delete.
- Confirm the deletion.
The Delete button is hidden while Add New Post is selected. A successful deletion refreshes the list. If deletion fails, the post may still be referenced by users, devices, DARs, tours, visitor records, access-control records, or other configuration. Reassign those dependencies before trying again; the dialog reports only a general error.
Deletion is audited, but the dialog does not offer an undo action. Prefer retaining and reassigning a post until operational and reporting dependencies have been reviewed.
Troubleshooting¶
An option is missing¶
- Default Residential Post requires a residential site.
- Enable Security Tours requires the Tours module.
- Multiple Users Per DAR requires the DARs module.
- Web Relay requires the Physical Access Control module.
Review the site's enabled modules in General site settings and modules. The Posts action itself is unavailable to limited administrators.
Save does not work¶
Confirm that Name is not blank. If coordinates are present, confirm they contain a comma and only numeric decimal values. A general error after validation can indicate a server, database, or dependency problem; preserve the values and contact an administrator with the site name, post name, time, and action attempted.
The wrong post is selected by default¶
Open each post and review both default checkboxes. Remove competing flags, save each changed post, and test the affected staff or residential workflow again.
Relay actions do not operate the gate¶
Confirm the final enabled flag is 1, the IP address and optional port are reachable from the gateway service, the relay family and output are correct, and the assigned host types allow LPR gate opening. Then confirm that the camera or device is associated with this post and review the access-control transaction or gateway logs.
